Catriona Ward won the August Derleth Award for Best Horror Novel for her debut, Rawblood, and again for Little Eve, making her the first woman to win the prize twice. Little Eve, which also won the Shirley Jackson Award for Best Novel, will soon be republished. Her latest novel, The Last House on Needless Street, has received rave reviews and became an instant bestseller.

We loved chatting with Catriona and hearing about how she tackles writing about the horror in her novels (clue: make sure you have some time to do other things as well!) We also hear about the long seven year journey to get her first novel published, and how that process contrasts with her writing approach now. There’s also time to chat briefly about the upcoming film adaptation of The Last House on Needless Street!
